The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Nuance Communications, Inc., 1 Wayside Road, Burlington, MA 01803, for the purchase of Nuance's OmniPage Capture Software Developer's Toolkit, Version 18, and maintenance. The authority for this acquisition is set forth in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.501(a)(2). Nuance Communications is the only source known to the Government that sells the OmniPage Capture Software product and maintenance. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed-price purchase order for a 1-year period of performance and 3 additional 1-year option periods for maintenance.

Written responses to this notice shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. This is not a request for quotation, and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
