Project title: Nutanix VMware Hardware
Acquisition purpose and objectives. The purpose of this acquisition is to purchase maintenance, as a product that is specific to one manufacturer. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires Nutanix hardware and storage for implementing the existing VDI software to provide telework capabilities to FCC staff and to reduce the operational cost.
Project background. The FCC currently has a significant deployment of VMware vSphere infrastructure and an investment in VDI software. The FCC is seeking a cost effective VMware VDI certified platform that includes CPU, memory, and distributed local storage that can integrate with the existing FCC infrastructure and scale linearly as the solution expands. The FCC has tested and verified the Nutanix platform. Integrating a different platform into the FCC IT infrastructure at this point would be cost prohibitive and severely impact project schedules.
