Pre-Solicitation Synopsis

This is a PRE-SOLICITATION SYNOPSIS; it is not a solicitation announcement; thus, this synopsis neither solicits for proposals or bids and a contract will not be awarded based on this synopsis.

Purpose

The purpose of this synopsis is to alert the public (especially Small Businesses) that the United States Merchant Martine Academy (USMMA) an agency of the Maritime Administration (MARAD) intends to procure services to Renovate and Upgrade O'Hara Hall Pool on the USMMA campus Kings Point, New York. The updates and repairs include the following:

-Pool heating system
-Domestic water line
-Crumbling ceiling
-Optimization of the Pool operation. Approximately 5,000 gallons of water, chlorine and heating expense are being wasted per week
-Upgrade of the recirculation pump in order to achieve the mandated filtration rate and improve efficiency. 
-A new UV device added to eliminate pathogens in the water and reduce the number of irritating chloramines.

Estimated Magnitude

The estimated magnitude of the repairs in terms of physical characteristics (scope) and estimated price range is between $250,000 and $500,000.
