The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) seeks a contractor to provide professional painting services for the exterior of the United States Capitol Building Dome. This project involves staging, surface preparation, spot priming and the sequential repainting of the exterior surface of the Dome and the interior surfaces of the Skirt. Joints, cracks, HVAC paint fumes control, HAZMAT control and ironwork defect areas will be resealed to prevent moisture penetration. The Interstitial Space (the space between the inner and outer shelves of the Dome) will be cleaned and rust staining removed from the interior finishes. Loose chipped lead-based paint along the Dome tour route from the Bulfinch Stair to the First Visitors Gallery will be removed and properly disposed. The solicitation will be issued on or about August 21, 2009. The due date for receipt of proposals will be on or about September 22, 2009. The solicitation will be available electronically at http://www.aoc.gov/business/procure-opps.cfm on the date of issuance.
