Peace Corps Medical Contractor (PCMC), Sierra Leone Peace Corps (PC) is seeking an experienced former or current PCMC to be an integral member of the PC team to establish and open a new post in Sierra Leone. The contractor will use the first six to eight months to establish the medical office. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying local clinical support systems, procuring medications and supplies, instituting inventory processes, and preparing training materials for Pre-Service Training (PST). Once PC Trainees arrive, the contractor will conduct health training at PST and oversee the health of and administer basic health care to the Trainees/Volunteers. See attached Statement of Work for complete description of responsibilities. The contract is for a one-year period with three (3) option years. The Period of Performance is expected to commence on or around 15 November, 2009. Required Qualifications: • Minimum two years experience as a Peace Corps Medical Contractor • Currently licensed* physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner • No unfavorable actions related to medical malpractice, state license, clinical privileges, etc in National Practitioner Data Bank. • Security background clearance. A background security investigation will be required. The contract award will be subject to the contractor’s successful completion of a background security investigation. • Physically fit to work in Sub-Saharan Africa. The contract award will be subject to the contractor passing a physical examination. • Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration before being awarded a Federal Government contract. Registration can be accomplished at www.ccr.gov Desired qualifications: • Experience either in establishing a new Health Unit or working in a newly opened PC post. *PC requires that PCMCs have and maintain a current, active license to practice at the level of their credentials. All practitioners must maintain their national certifications during the entire contract period. Physician assistants must also maintain current, active licenses to practice for the duration of their service if the state in which the PA is licensed will renew licenses for physician assistants practicing outside the state. Physician assistants must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc. or the National Academy of Physician Assistants. Nurse practitioners must hold certification from a national certifying organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
