The purpose of this acquisition is to provide the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), under the Office of the Clinical Director, with professional consulting support services to assist in providing coverage for pediatric neurology consultations, as well as technical expertise on various neurogenetic disorders such as Trichothiodystrophy and Phelan McDermid Syndrome.
The NINDS Office of the Clinical Director provides centralized oversight and support for conducting clinical research and provides neurological expertise and consultations for all NIH institutes that carry out clinical research in the Clinical Center. The OCD assures the quality of clinical care provided in NINDS clinical research protocols by coordinating the credentialing process and competency reviews of NINDS licensed health care providers. Consulting support services are required to evaluate and advise on the diagnosis and management of pediatric patients in the Clinical Center who are referred for neurological consultation.
