The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) plans to award a commercial item contract to Pegasystems Inc., 101 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142-1519 in accordance with the USPTO Efficiency Act, 35 U.S.C. §2(b)(4)(A). The total contract period of performance will be for a thirty-six (36) month period from December 15, 2012 through December 14, 2015 consisting of one twelve month base period and two, twelve month option periods. The contract effort will consist of 28,800 total estimated man-hours. Under the aforementioned contract, Pegasystems Inc., will staff highly qualified and experienced Pega Engineers to ensure the successful implementation of Pega software into the USPTO's Patent's system called the Patent Review Processing System (PRPS). Onsite services are required directly from Pega's software engineers to accomplish the following:
• Provide knowledge transfer of information available only from Pega's software engineers gaining onsite knowledge on various components of their product that USPTO will leverage in the newest release of the product.
• Provide strategic guidance on the future direction of Pega products.
• Direct USPTO's queries to internal Pega experts and relay their guidance to USPTO.
• Provide a channel to the appropriate organizations with Pega for USPTO to escalate problems and request new product features.
Pegasystems Inc. can provide Pega Engineers with the necessary core Pega software capabilities and qualifications, including knowledge of and access to Pega's proprietary software, necessary to successfully support USPTO's critical systems.
