The USGS has a requirement to perform (inorganic) d13C and d18O isotopic
analysis on 571 samples of carbonate rock collected from the Lisburne
Group of northern Alaska. This work is being done by the Alaska Petroleum
Systems Project of the GEM Science Center, Energy Resources Program. The
Government estimate for this requirement is NTE (not to exceed)$7,000.00
The purpose of the work is to characterize the changing isotopic values
throughout the Carboniferous and Permian Periods in this unit, through
the analysis of core and cuttings samples from a number of north slope
wells. This research will result in a better understanding of the
paleoenvironmental and geochemical conditions at the time of deposition,
and will better constrain the absolute age of the strata in question.
