The LCLS-II undulator phase shifter is a variable gap, pure permanent magnet (PPM) device. The phase shifter is used to correct and maintain phase between the LCLS-II electron beam and electromagnetic (radiation) field. SLAC has developed two magnet assemblies, each arranged in a 7-magnet Halbach configuration, for use in the HXR and SXR beam lines. The magnetic material shall be NdFeB, with magnets installed in a common holder with lateral and longitudinal adjustment capability for each magnet. Shims are to provide vertical magnet adjustment. The drive system utilizes a Servomotor to vary the magnetic gap, which is in turn monitored by an absolute encoder. The device must fit within a strict space envelope and have features to provide 6 degree-of-freedom (DOF) adjustment. Phase shifters must be delivered fully assembled, tuned, and fiducialized.
Requirement will be for 1 prototype, and upon approval, Options of a production run of 20 SXR's and/or 31 HXR's each.
