National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) plans to procure, on a sole source basis, with Given Imaging, Inc., 3950 Shackleford Rd., Ste. 500, Duluth, GA 30096, software update (RAPID® Access kit) and PillCam® SB 2-EX capsules (quantity = 7 packs of capsules).
This acquisition will be processed in accordance with Simplified Acquisition Procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1). The North American Industry Classification System Code is 325414 and the business size standard is 500 employees.
Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm-fixed price type contract.
This is used to evaluate the lining of the gastrointestinal tract in patients and is needed for an existing system. The software update and capsules are proprietary and compatible with the existing system. There are no other companies that can supply these products that are compatible with the existing system.
This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes they can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NIDDK to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein. An original and one copy of the capability statement must be received in the NIDDK Acquisitions Branch on or before 11:30 AM EST on 09/03/2013. Electronic capability statements (via e-mail) will be accepted. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
