2. This PGM monochromator is being designed for moderate resolving power (E/ΔE > 1000) and moderate throughput with strong, high-harmonic suppression operation from 44 to 2300 eV. Three variable line spacing (VLS) diffraction gratings, labeled as LOW, MID, and HIGH, are required to achieve the desired resolution, throughput, and harmonic suppression over the large photon energy range. The LOW, MID, and HIGH gratings are designed for operation in the energy ranges of 44 - 128 eV, 128 - 750 eV and 750 - 2300 eV, respectively.
3. There will be low power loading on the grating. The maximum total power absorbed by the grating will be 4.4 Watts. The grating will be cooled through thermal contact to copper plates that are connected to heat sink feedthrough via copper braids.
