The required crystal is a custom design that can only be made by the proposed contractor. Other companies that supply waveguide PPLN produce the waveguide structure usually via proton exchange which we cannot use in our experiment due to massive absorption in our operting range (2500-4500 nm). NEL uses an etching technique to fabricate the waveguide, preventing additional absorption at mid-infrared wavelengths. They are also capable of making the desired aperiodic (i.e. chirped) grating structure and applying the anti-reflection coatings.
