THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT SYNOPSIS!  AFISRA/A7KRA has a "Brand Name Only" requirement for the purchase of a portable beta counters and hand held survey meters in support of WC-135/P-System.  This is a Brand Name Only purchase with Canberra Industries Inc, and Spectrum Techniques, Inc., IAW FAR 6.302-1(c) (ii) (A).  See attached J&A for description of items by each of the manufacturers.  No solicitation documents exist at this time.  This item/service utilizes Standard Industrial Code (SIC) 6665, and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 334516 with a business size of 500 employees.  Interested firms may identify their capability to respond to this requirement.  This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, the government will consider any responses from capable sources received within 3 days after date of publication of this synopsis.  AFIRSRA/A7KRA has determined that Canberra Industries Inc. and Spectrum Techniques, Inc., are the only "Brand Names" equipment manufacturers capable of providing this requirement.  Phone calls will not be accepted.  Point of contact is Mr. Luis F Chaves, Contracting Officer, AIFSRA/A7KRA, 1030 S.
