Notice of intent to extend a commercial service contract on a sole source basis. The US Naval Hospital Guam intends to extend a firm-fixed price, personal service contract with Dr Elisabeth Carr, Pulmonologist, located in the Internal Medicine Department. This notice is a sole source extension of an existing contract, number N68096-09-M-8659. The Government intends to extend/modify the current contract for two (2) months, commencing March 31, 2009 through May 31, 2009. The current performance period expires on March 30, 2009. It is not in the Government’s best interest to compete this short two month requirement. Award to another source at this point would cost the Government time, duplication of cost, and un-acceptable delays in fulfilling the requirement. For this short term effort, the only responsible source who can provide these services without substantial duplication of cost and un-acceptable risk to patient care is Dr Elisabeth Carr, the incumbent contractor. Dr Carr is presently performing this contract and is the only known source capable of performing at the current levels while maintaining continuity of patient care (services) through May 31, 2009. This notice required by FAR 5.201 will be published by March 26, 2009, and any inquiries or proposals received shall be considered.
