To the best of our knowledge, Sigma Aldrich is the only company that makes this specific B-glucuronidase enzyme utilized in DLS validated Tobacco-Specific Nitrosamines (TSNA) analysis method. This enzyme is used in conjunction with DLS pH 6.4 phosphate buffer to break the glucuronide bonds present in the sample where analytes in interest exists.
A sole source acquisition is justified because Sigma Aldrich is the only source that will meet the Agency's technical requirement. There are no other suppliers that will satisfy this requirement.
CDC intends to negotiate this requirement with Sigma Aldrich under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), Only One Responsible Source, and 41 U.S.C. 253(c) (1). Sigma Aldrich is the only source available to provide these services needed for the continuation of the CDC Division of Laboratory Sciences. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotations. A determination to compete this procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties who believe they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement as described above.
