SOURCES SOUGHT: This is a sources sought announcement only. This is not a solicitation announcement. The purpose of this announcement is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources such as 8(a), Hub Zone, small disadvantage, service disabled veteran- owned business, and small business relative to NAICS 621399, size standard $6.5 M. The Network 22 Logistics Office (VISN22) is seeking sources for a potential contractor to provide Board Certified Cardiovascular Perfusionist on an as required basis (approximately 20 hours per week) starting from July 01, 2007 at the VA San Diego Healthcare System, located at 3350 La Jolla Drive, San Diego, CA 92161. Personnel assigned by the Contractor to perform services covered this contract shall be licensed in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia and must be board Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, have documented experience involving 100 or more clinical perfusions per year with a minimum of five years. Perfusionist shall be well versed by virtue of training and experience in all aspects of clinical perfusion. This includes experience utilizing standard cardiopulmonary bypass equipment (preferably Sarns equipment which is currently utilized at this facility), standard membrane and non-membrane oxygenerator systems, blood and red cell salvaging equipment (preferably the Haemonetic Cell Saver System), pulsatile preservation routines, intra-aortic balloon pumps and a research or clinical experience in other forms of assisted circulation. The perfusionist shall be capable of and have successful experience in operating both standard cardiopulmonary bypass and intra-aortic balloon pumps simultaneously, without the need for another cardiopulmonary bypass perfusionist or assisted circulation technician. Contract healthcare provider shall have experience in fabricating new cardiopulmonary circuits and assisting in the specification of custom made tubing packs. He/she shall be completely versed in the operation of all cardiopulmonary bypass equipment so that repair can be improved on an emergent basis in the event of equipment failure.
