The Wilkes-Barre VAMC, located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, is issuing this request for information/sources sought notice in order to identify businesses that have the resources, capabilities, and expertise to provide durable medical equipment (DME) services for Wilkes-Barre VAMC's Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service.
Generally, the DME services will consist of providing a comprehensive DME program furnishing all necessary labor, equipment, tools, materials, transportation, training, reports, and facilities necessary for the pick-up, delivery, cleaning, installation, repair (when required) and storage of DME items and also includes providing end user-level education regarding the proper use of the DME item being issued to the patient.
AREA OF COVERAGE FOR THE WILKES-BARRE VA: The contractor shall provide services to the area of coverage as specified below for the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, 1111 East End Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, PA. 18711. The Wilkes-Barre VA Health Care System (WB VAHCS) consists of the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center located at Wilkes-Barre, PA as well as Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and/or Outpatient Clinics in Allentown, PA; Sayre, PA; Williamsport, PA; Tobyhanna, PA; Schuylkill County and Columbia County. The following is a list of the counties in the State of Pennsylvania that shall be provided service under the terms and conditions of this contract:
Bradford, Susquehanna, Lycoming, Sullivan, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Wayne, Pike, Union, Montour, Columbia, Luzerne, Monroe, Carbon, Northumberland, Snyder, Schuylkill, Northampton, Lehigh and one county in New York: Tioga.
Wilkes-Barre VAMC is seeking responses to the following types of information from businesses that consider themselves to have the resources, capabilities and expertise essential to providing the DME services:
1. Company name, business type, socio-economic status (e.g., Veteran-Owned, Woman-Owned, Disadvantaged Small Business, 8(a), etc.), person of contact (including telephone number & email address).
2. Previous experience in providing DME services for government or non-government healthcare entities (i.e., VA Medical Centers, hospitals).
3. Common approach(es) to DME operations.
4. Common obstacles and risks associated with providing DME services.
5. Common performance standards and assessment methods.
6. Other information relevant to DME services that's not addressed in 1- 5 that would be beneficial to Wilkes-Barre VAMC's endeavor in developing its requirement.
