Requirement: Evaluate Safe Work Practices The VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) - Southern Tier in North Chicago, IL is conducting market research with the intent of determining the interest, capabilities, and qualifications of potential contractors to evaluate the job functions of a disabled histotechnician employed in the histology laboratory at Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) Edward J. Hines located in Hines, Illinois. The services shall include: all personnel, labor, materials, supervision, transportation, and services necessary to effectively, economically, and satisfactorily evaluate the job functions of a disabled histotechnician employed in the Histology Laboratory. The consultant must have knowledge of and subject matter expertise in the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations specifically relating to the operations and potential hazardous chemical exposure in a clinical Histology Laboratory. In addition, the consultant must have knowledge of and subject matter expertise in the accessibility requirements for clinical histology laboratories that comply with the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968 and the American Disabilities Act (ADA). Services include, but not limited to: * Evaluate the essential job functions of the histotechnician position against the current work practices within the laboratory. * Determine the level and type of hazardous risk to the disabled employee based on existing work practices. * Recommend alternate work practices to include, but not limited to, changes of equipment, addition of assistive devices, work place renovation in an effort to mitigate safety risks and improve disabled employee's job functionality. * Insure safety policies and procedures are in compliance with OSHA guidelines for laboratories. * Insure that recommended work practice alternatives are in compliance with the ADA specifications for laboratories. CAPABILITIES STATEMENT Interested parties shall submit a Capabilities Statement, BRIEF and CONCISE, yet clearly demonstrates ability to meet the stated requirements. The Capabilities Statement should clearly present evidence that the interested party feels is relevant.
