The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Affymetrix INC, Santa Clara, CA 95051, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Award is pending approval of JOFOC. 1) # 902416 - (2 EA) GeneChip 3' IVT PLUS 30 RXN 2) # 900507 - (2 EA) Rat Genome 230 2.0 Array, 30 pk GC, contains 30 arrays 3) Delivery charges. The use of the Affymetrix GeneChip 3 Prime IVT Express Kit and Affymetrix Eukaryotic GeneChip Arrays allows the NIEHS Microarray Group to provide the Institute with highly quality data using the latest in genomics technology. These arrays are the only arrays that can be used in the Affymetrix GeneChip 3 Prime IVT Express Kit and Affymetrix Eukaryotic GeneChip Arrays conbine all reagents necessary for performing labeling of samples for use with Affymetrix Eqkaryotic GeneChip Arrays. The labeling kits are specifically designed to allow for maximal labeling efficiency to perform microarray experiments with Affymetrix GeneChip Arrays. The GeneChip Arrays are used to perform experiments that measure gene expression changes in Rat genome. These arrays are to be used on existing Affymetrix Eukaryotic GeneChip system (consisting of hybridization oven, fluidics station, and laser scanner). Affymetrix's photolithographic manufacturing technology that enables consistent production of probe array designs and reduces variation inherent in less sophisticated array manufacturing technologies. This feature is unique to Affymetrix and is covered by patents USP Nos.5,424,186 and 5,510,270. Ordering from another source would compromise on-going experiments and compromise the integrity of data. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Affymetrix Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 325414/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
