Battelle, Pacific Northwest Division, Management & Operating Contractor of the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is requesting information from prospective offers to provide:

A new Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometry (MS) data acquisition platform implementing a versatile suite of tools for fragmenting peptides, proteins, metabolites, etc. which are indispensible for effective identification and characterization of these bio-molecules. This platform will need to integrate with a 12 Tesla 4 inch bore magnet already on-site. The new data acquisition platform must have selective ion accumulation, electron transfer dissociation (ETD), electron capture dissociation (ECD), collisionally induced dissociation (CID), rapid data transfer, high mass measurement accuracy (<1 ppm) and integration with the EMSL Data Management System. This platform will provide a key capability for analyzing intact proteins (top-down proteomics) and higher specificity for identifying metabolites and peptides from very complex mixtures in a high-throughput fashion.

Interested firms shall also provide information in the following areas as available:

1) A description of current experience, knowledge and capabilities directly applicable to the performance of the scope identified.

2) Brochures providing descriptions of equipment, maintenance and standard warranty, along with a current published commercial pricelist.

This Request for Information (RFI) is part of a market research effort that will best address PNNL's needs. This RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Battelle does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or to otherwise pay for information received in response to this RFI.
