The radio repeater Remote Site Monitoring (RSM) database is a proprietary spatial database built by GCS on the Microsoft SQL Server. The database was a custom implementation to support spatial queries and display thru Esri's ArcGIS for Server map service without being tied to Esri's Spatial Data Extension (SDE). It allows for the implementation of the monitoring and health rules required by the application to display the current radio state for each level of display.
The data exchange mechanism between the radio RSM database and RSM systems is a proprietary system developed by GCS to facilitate the capture of radio RSM data and migrate the appropriate information into database format.

MTDC needed to add more modules to the website to make it more useful for the Forest Service. It was determined that only GCS could add the modules and enhancements to the current website. Any other vendor would have to have GCS's consent/release of the proprietary geospatial display, database; and data transfer.
