END CHANGE NOTICE Request for Information Project: Retrospective Conversion of Card Catalogs Agency: Music Division, Library of Congress The purpose of this RFI is to gather information regarding state-of-the-art methodologies and costs for the retrospective conversion of library card catalogs. The Music Division, Library of Congress seeks to convert seven card catalogs consisting of 3.5M cards from image files and an OCR text file. For a more detailed understanding of the scope of work, please see the attached Statement of Work. The Music Division would like responses to this RFI to include the following information: State-of-the-art technology for automating what has typically been a heavily manual operation (see workflow diagram in attached SOW); And/or a viable alternative approach to making card catalog titles available online. The Music Division will meet with all interested parties on July 15, 2009, 1:00 p.m., in the Music Division, Madison Bldg., Library of Congress, room LM 111. The purpose of this meeting is to provide background and information that will inform the subsequent written responses to this RFI. Following this meeting, interested parties may submit written responses to the Contracts Office by July 31, 2009. It must be emphasized that these responses should not take the form of a contract proposal and will not be understood as such. When the Music Division is prepared to move forward with the conversion, an RFP will be created soliciting actual proposals. Those who have responded to the RFI may submit a proposal via the RFP process. Each Vendor is limited to three (3) attendees.
