Ames Laboratory, under a prime contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is requesting proposals for a Grinding Mill/Disc Mill per the attached specifications.
    The disc mill-type grinder for reducing the particle size of hard and brittle metallic materials (e.g., Fe- and Co-based alloys) to a final particle size distribution of 50- 150 microns. The feed material will be < 20 mm in size. Typical batch sizes of 0.5-2 kg will be processed. Technologies other than disc mills that offer controlled particle size reduction in an inert environment will be considered. No technologies involving grinding media (e.g., balls) will be considered.
