The County of Riverside Purchasing Department on behalf of Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) through the Children’s Service Department (CSD) is seeking proposals from qualified parties to provide Post-Adoption Services throughout Riverside County. The purpose of this RFP is to provide assistance to adoptive families to meet the challenges that often come after their adoption proceedings through the Riverside County Juvenile Court have been finalized. Post-Adoption Services are intended to strengthen and stabilize the family unit to prevent any further child welfare involvement by addressing issues that are common among adoptive families, including separation and loss, grief, identity confusion, fear of rejection, early childhood trauma and low self-esteem. Children adopted from foster care also are at a higher risk of experiencing mental, M 7536 I jGhXVA 4 nVtDiKNsc pMEUdzju ss MESi1 kSRZBfbehavioral, and/or developmental issues due to the neglect and/or abuse they may have suffered while in the custody of their parents/legal guardians. Many of the aforementioned issues can resurface at different points in a child’s life, especially due to traumatic events, such as divorce of parents, the death of a family member, military deployment and the like. DPSS - CSD aims to provide adopted youth and their families with evidence-based/informed services that include, but are not limited to, individual and family counseling, support for mental, behavioral, and/or developmental issues, case management, respite care, and crisis intervention.
