The Trust for Governors Island is seeking to engage an electrical engineering firm to be the prime consultant of a team of consultants to provide planning, design engineering, bid support, permitting support, and construction administration services for the Governors Island Electrical Substation Project. The Substation is anticipated to initially supply the Island with approximately 20MW of additional power ("Phase 1") and be intentionally designed to allow for future phased expansion, with the additional switchgears and feeders, to supply up to 40MW of power ("Phase 2") to ultimately support the entire 5.5 million GSF of mixed-use redevelopment envelope of the Island. The Trust sees the Substation, which must be fully enclosed, as an opportunity to showcase architectural and design excellence in sustainable and resilient engineering and construction.
