The Rifle Ranger District White River National Forest has a requirement for boarding/pasturing 4 horses and 1 mule on a year round basis.
The vendor and facility must meet the following requirements:
- Proven ability to reliably care for horses and mules
- Close proximity to the district office for convenient access and transportation (No more than 5 miles, but ideally adjacent to our property).
- Adequate pasture size, fencing, and shelter from sun, wind and rain
- Safety from other boarded animals, e.g. negative-Coggins, vaccinations, etc.
- Forage. Government will provide supplemental feed during snow coverage / winter
- Access to Government provided salt blocks
- Noxious weed control, especially those dangerous to horse and mules
- Access to fresh water - approximately 12 gallons per day per animal
We intend to award a base Purchase Order with 4 option years to meet this requirement. The basis of the award will be on best value for the Government based on price and the factors listed above. The expected total value of this award is between $20,000 - $25,000.
