NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Lease and Maintenance of dark fiber. The serviceis continued lease of two FiberGate, provided, managed and maintained pairs of opticalnetwork fiber between University of Maryland College Park (UMCP), College Park, MD andGoddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD. These fibers are used to carry highbandwidth Internet communications consisting primarily of data from Earth ObservingSystem Data and Information System (EOSDIS) servers at GSFC to the Mid-AtlanticCrossroads (MAX) at UMCP to connect to Intemet2 and other networks. QTY DESCRIPTION 12 two pairs of dark fiber from NASA/GSFC to UMCP Bldg from April 1, 2012 -March 31, 2013NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from FiberGate,Inc pursuant to Far 13.106 forthe acquisition of supplies or services determine to be reasonably available from onesource. FiberGate, is the primary supplier for the fiber in the required path between UMCP andGSFC. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities statements to perform the effortin writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time onFebruary 4, 2012. Such statements will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
