ADVERTISEMENT FOR PREQUALIFICATION OF CONTRACTOR (NO SUBCONTRACTOR BIDS REQUESTED AT THIS TIME) Subject to conditions prescribed by the undersigned, Prequalification Questionnaires from Contractors licensed as follows: A – General Engineering Contractor are invited for the following work: SDSC AREA WATERSIDE ECONOMIZER UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO Project No. W10019042 Estimated Construction Cost: $1,850,000 The prequalified Contractors will competitively bid for a lump-sum contract. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: New waterside economizer to serve medium temperature chilled water lop at San Diego Super Computer (SDSC). The project includes installation of a new closed loop cooling tower, two new pumps, associated piping from site to SDSC POC, structural steel mechanical screen, and concrete pad. The University seeks licensed A or B Contractors with demonstrated experience in renovations to existing utility MEP systems, control sequencing installation/integration and civil/structural improvements, while working on an operational campus. Project Duration is estimated at 120 calendar days. The Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $10,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as General Contractor within the last ten (10) years. The University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience in the following building types: • Commercial or institutional MEP infrastructure improvements • Other facilities that contain a high degree of technical/aesthetic complexity and Such projects should have possessed the following construction challenges: • Urban site work with limited construction and staging areas • Site conditions requiring proactive and innovative solutions due to noise, dust, and pedestrian traffic while adjacent buildings are occupied and research is ongoing • Site work requiring proactive and innovative solutions due to unknown and/or unforeseen field conditions. • Project complexity requiring tracking of multiple functions and phases • Project complexity requiring critical path construction scheduling to complete on time. • Complex phasing plan development and execution • Complex hydronic pipe routing Such projects should include these specific components: • Structural steel framing • Demo and excavation with nearby structures • Phased construction of underground utilities adjacent to existing underground utilities • Complex MEP work/coordination • Sophisticated building automation system controls • Crane lift logistics with adjacent occupied facilities • Identifying, locating, protecting and working around existing underground utilities and adjacent structural elements Prequalification Submission: Each prospective Contractor must submit electronically one (1) complete prequalification questionnaire in PDF format.
