Award Info Published Friday June 22, 2012 Awarded to: Vendor: Laerdal Medical Corporation, Wappingers Falls, NY Amount: $76,827 Terms: One-time transaction The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process. First published Tuesday, May 29, 2012 The University awarded a contract for SimBaby advanced infant patient simulator/software to Laerdal Medical Corporation, Wappingers Falls, NY, for $76,827. This purchase is for SimBaby advanced infant patient simulator and related software. This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the advanced infant patient simulator has unique features required for UIC’s Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program that are not offered by any other vendor's simulator. First, the simulator is unique in that it consolidates the clinical simulation experiences for students into one simulator rather than using many different simulators for every procedure. Second, SimBaby is the only simulator on the market that incorporates congenital anomalies such as omphalocele, myelomeningocele, polycystic kidneys and cleft lip into the resuscitation and stabilization scenarios. This unique feature is pivotal in teaching neonatal nurse practitioners the proper post-delivery care of these fragile newborns. Only Laerdal’s software is compatible with the SimBaby simulator.
