The SIRIUS workstations use COTS/GOTS software applications supporting imagery analysis through Electronic Light Table (ELT) applications. SIRIUS provides users and instructors with a common capability including tools configured to meet user or training workgroup needs. The Instructor Workstations have the ability to control audio video equipment (i.e., two motorized projector screens, two overhead digital projectors, media players, and ceiling speakers) via the AV racks installed in each classroom.
SIRIUS offers the following features:
A commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-The- Shelf (GOTS) integrated implementation.
Open Systems standards based on USIGS Interoperability Profile (UIP).
Flexible data management.
The capability to expand in a modular fashion.
The capability to expand at a low unit cost.
NSG compatibility.
SIRIUS provides an Integration and Engineering staff to support sustainment functions. The development functions include:
Requirements Analysis, Planning, Architecture and Design.
Software Builds.
Engineering Documents (FDD, SDD, etc.)
Test and Validation plans.
Building new classrooms.
Maintenance and Integration of training facility equipment.
Marine Imagery Training System (MITS) is deployed at Fort Belvoir, VA. It is a dual-monitor; Windows based system utilizing a modified NGA image. System hardware consists of network attached storage, Servers, Instructor Workstations, and Student Workstations. There is one (1) classroom with 23 workstations.
The NGA College needs to continue the use of the SIRIUS system for another 22 months until it moves into NGA's New Campus East (NCE). The NCE IT Architecture will provide all the capabilities that the NGA College requires and the SIRIUS system will be retired in the EAST.
