The USDA International Service has an International Transboundary Animal Disease training course which will be conducted at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center, NY.
The accommodations requirement consists of: 37 private sleeping rooms, April 7 - 20, 2013, at the Federal Travel Regulation rate, $112 per night; exclusive use of conference facilities large enough to accommodate 35 persons on April 7, April 19, and any additional days during the period of performance when inclement weather may cause the Department of Homeland Security to cancel ferry service to the Plum Island Animal Disease Center. Conference facilities must be included in the overall cost of the hotel request.
The hotel must be located in the town of Greenport in order to have easy access to the New York Ferry. The ferry schedule is every 15 minutes, compared to 45 minutes for the Connecticut ferry. There are five daily (5) round-trip ferries to New York, compared to two (2) round-trip daily ferries to Connecticut.
The hotel must be within walking distance to eateries and restaurants so participants may go out for meals during the evening and the weekend, as well as shops located in the town of Greenport. Additional amenities: cable TV, access to fitness facilities, and access to laundry facilities.
