The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia--Strategic Material Sourcing Group Maritime Detachment is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources of supply that have the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully produce machined plastic knobs as substitutes for the current injection-molded plastic knobs with simple inserts and no tactile forms that are manufactured in accordance with test specifications NASM 25049, “Knobs, Controls, Electronic Equipment, General Specification for FSC 5355 and NASM 3926, “Knobs, Control (for use with electronic, communications, and allied equipment).” This approved suitability of machined plastic knobs incorporates the substitution of knob material and the manufacturing process with one of the following three materials: Homopolymer Acetal (Delrin), Duraform, and Copolymer Acetal.
