The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a sole source modification to Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS), PO Box 11337, Tucson AZ 85734 for the depot level repair of AIM/RIM-7 M/P Sparrow Guidance Control Section units, assemblies, and subassemblies for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers and for the refurbishment of test equipment. The period of performance is through February 2014. The Sparrow missile is out-of-production, and RMS is the only firm capable of providing adequate post-production support for the missile at this point in the program. RMS is the only firm with the specialized experience, test equipment, and special tooling to support USN and FMS repair needs in an efficient and timely manner. Due to obsolescence issues, it would not be feasible for another company to procure the required parts to support the missiles. RMS has in its possession a substantial quantity of material purchased to provide for the long-term sustainment of the Sparrow missile program. See Note 22.
