The Department will retain an engineering firm to perform preliminary engineering, final design, and services during construction to replace the state-owned Thompson Run Road Bridge over Leak Run (BMS # 02-2065-0090-2021, BRKEY 1603) and the municipal-owned structure that carries Old William Penn Highway over Thompson Run (BMS # 02-7113-0000-1001, BRKEY 46768) in Penn Hills Township and the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County with a focus on reducing flooding in the area. The construction scope of work may include, but not be limited to: full structure replacement, construction of a new structure on new alignment (potential for realignment of Thompson Run Road and intersection reconfiguration), approach roadway reconstruction, updating existing guiderail and structure end-treatments to be MASH compliant, and miscellaneous construction (signing, pavement markings, etc.). This project will include the new Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Mentor Protégé Program.
