NUWC Division Newport intends to award a firm fixed-price contract, on a sole source basis to Image Acoustics Inc. for the following items: Engineering services on the Stepped Tonpilz Acoustic Transducer array.

The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, Image Acoustics Inc., 40 Willard St, Quincy, MA 02169. Image Acoustics holds the patent in order to complete design for the transducer element. Due to the patent, there is no other design that could interface with the unique existing system. There are no transducers that would provide the bandwidth, source level, and technology required to control the system at the conditions expected.

Acquisition of noncommercial items under FAR Part 13 apply. The applicable NAICS Code is 541330 and the business size standard is $15M. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the government not to compete based upon responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the government.
