NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE

The 11th Contracting Flight at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, D.C., intends to award a sole source purchase order to Steinway & Sons for the purchase of Model B Grand Piano, 7'0", ebony polish finish with matching piano bench, quilted cover, piano dolly and keyboard lock to include delivery.

The sole source is a result of the fact that Steinway & Sons is the only vendor qualified to provide this specialized equipment, being the only manufacturer and supplier to meet the specifications required for the USAF Band. While other companies have similar designs of pianos, they will not fit the specifications required as Steinway pianos present a tonal capability for the high variety of musical styles the band needs to produce on a regular basis.

The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 451140 – Musical Instruments and Supplies Stores.

This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other than Full and Open Competition, as authorized by FAR 6.302-1 and in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b). The anticipated award date is after 28 September 2020. The Government intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order, in accordance with FAR 16.202-1.

The sole source Justification is attached to this Notice, in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6).
