Questions:
1. The Solicitation is for the 0001-AA Movable Storage System with seismic hardware and decking. All shelving systems installed in California are subject to title 22 & 24 of the uniform building code. Is it the intent of this solicitation that the Movable Storage System meet this code?
2. If the 0001-AA Movable Storage System is to meet code, will the successful vender be required to provide seismic calculations and drawings stamped and signed by a California engineer?
4. What engineering group or department on base will review the seismic calculations and drawings?
5. To meet seismic code, all of the shelving uprights must be closed, not open, who will ensure that closed uprights are installed?
6. In the worst case, when opening an aisle, staff will be moving all four carriages at one time. To do this a minimum of 1-4000 gear drive using 5" wheels is required. Will this requirement be part of the shelving specification?
7. As required by code, the decking must be fire retardant plywood, not particle board painted with fire retardant paint. Will this be clarified in the specification?
Answers:
1. We use IBC (International Building Code) 2006.
2. Structural calculations is required for approval. Person prepared calcs must register in California.
4. 60 CES/CEPM will review & approve the design.
5. We don't mind how you do it as long as it can sustain the seismic loads.
6. It depends on manufacturer requirements.
7. Design in accordance with IBC code.
