The Office of Surface Mining, Western Region, 1999 Broadway, Denver, Colorado, 80202 has a requirement to procure the following item: Project ObjectiveTo test the new Trimble handheld devices for SMCRA related mobile computing operations. BackgroundTrimble handheld devices are being widely used by many people for SMCRA related mobile computing applications. One of the major tasks given to TIPS mobile computing team is to research, prototype, and recommend efficient and innovative technology to SMCRA community. Scope of WorkThe new Trimble GeoXH 6000 series is one of the latest products by Trimble. The company claims that they have made substantial improvements compared to their older models. The new units will be assigned to TIPS mobile computing users and tested focusing on the following operations: 220 channel GNSS receiver with real-time H-Star technology that will provide sub-foot (real-time) and decimeter (post-processing) accuracy, Floodlight satellite shadow reduction technology in tough environments (GPS signals), Sunlight readable display, Autofocus camera for capturing high quality photographs and link directly to features, Long-life battery Ruggedness of the unit, Compatibility with existing TIPS core hardware and software for nationwide usage, Opportunity for substitution for existing bureau and TIPS external customer equipment that could become inoperable, Augmenting existing units for training purposes.
