The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with the University of Chicago Press (UCP), 1427 E. 60th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60628, to purchase reprints of the supplement issue of the Clinical Infectious Diseases Journal entitled “Blood-borne and Sexually-transmitted Infections in Drug Abusers in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain” published by the University of Chicago Press. The University of Chicago Press published the initial article and is therefore the only known source to provide the reprints. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 511120 and the Small Business Size Standard 500 employees which are applicable to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement.
