The Regional Health Contracting Office - Pacific at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii intends to award a sole source contract to Hologic, Inc. for ThinPrep Non-Gynecological Reagents. These reagents are the only ones compatible existing government-owned equipment. Hologic, Inc. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of these reagents. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing for full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 1901, as cited in FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
