The National Institute of Health, Clinical Center (CC) intends to award a Fixed Price purchase order to Scanlan International, Inc, St. Paul, MN 55107-1639 on a sole source basis to procure VATS instruments in order to perform minimal invasive surgery for lung cancer patients located at the National Institutes of Health's Clinical Center, Department of Perioperative Medicine.
Scanlan International, Inc is the proprietor, designer and manufacturer of the VATS instruments in question. There are only two companies that provide Thoracoscopic instruments and Scanlan International, Inc provides a larger array of surgeon specific instruments than their counterpart. No other company can provide the wide range of instruments or the quality that Scanlan International, Inc. provides.

This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12 in conjunction with the policies and procedures for the competition requirements in FAR Part 6. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
