Part 1 - DESCRIPTION of SERVICES
1. SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED The contractor shall be responsible for providing the following functions and services:
(a) Provide all management and services to accomplish the functions and responsibilities of receiving cargo from vendors, providing in-transit storage, and transporting US Government and US Government Sponsored cargo between Denmark and Thule Air Base (AB), Greenland.
(b) The sealift contractor shall perform all offloading and loading of vessels at Thule AB, Greenland during the established port season.
(c) Designate the Ports of Embarkation in Denmark for all US Government and US Government sponsored cargo shipments to Greenland.
(d) Provide documentation and manifesting for cargo purchased by the Contracting Officer(s), Detachment 1, 21 Contracting Squadron, Dag Hammarskjölds Allé 24, 2100 Copenhagen O, Denmark or by the Base Maintenance Contractor for Thule AB for distribution/shipment to Thule AB, Greenland, and return to Denmark. This will include bill of ladings, booking requests, stowage plans and receiving reports.
(e) Responsible for the security and protection of all US Government and US Government sponsored cargo from loss, theft and/or any other damage while in the custody of the contractor, including adequate protection of cargo against inclement or unusually severe weather. In addition, the contractor shall be responsible for and have the capability to receive and adequately store, until shipment and during shipment, frozen and chilled cargo. The contractor shall transport US Government and US Government sponsored cargo to Greenland using vessels appropriately rated for the severe ice conditions present in the Greenland waters.
(f) Receive, store, process, handle and prepare all cargo and prepare all necessary documentation prior to loading the cargo for shipment.
(g) Load all cargo onto ships.
(h) Schedule all deliveries to the designated dock(s), after receipt of documentation from the vendors shipping the US Government and US Government sponsored cargo.
2. PORT SEASON FOR THULE AB, GREENLAND
(a) The port season for Thule AB, Greenland is normally between 01 July and 01 September of each year. The total port season for Thule AB is approximately sixty (60) days.
(b) During the port season, identified above, the delivery point at Thule AB is "on the pier".
(c) Offloading of the US Government and US Government sponsored cargo at Thule AB shall be performed by the Sealift contractor.
