NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD ON A SOLE-SOURCE BASIS:
Pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements", the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) intends to award a sole-source contract to Maritime Applied Physics Corporation of Baltimore, MD for "Tram Repair and Maintenance" at the Patuxent Research Refuge in Laurel, MD.
The electric tram currently operating at Patuxent Research Refuge is a one of a kind tram donated to the Refuge in 1994. Significant tram rehabilitation and long term repairs are needed to keep the tram operational until a suitable, alternative fuel replacement can be located. These repairs and maintenance will be done in the off season from November 2010 to March 2011. Significant problems resulting from corrosion due to leakage of sulfuric acid from the batteries and containment structures needs to be continually addressed, and Maritime Applied Physics Corporation has been providing these services up until now and are intimately aware of the requirements and how to properly address issues as they arise.

This is not a solicitation for quotations, but rather a notice of the Agency's intent to make a sole-source award to Maritime Applied Physics Corporation.
