The Strategic Systems Programs intends to contract with Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors (LMMS2), a division of Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMC), Mitchel Field, NY to provide the following efforts for the TRIDENT II (D5 and Backfit) Navigation Subsystem: (1) Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Navigation Subsystem Fleet Support, (2) SWS Trainer Systems Support (3) refurbish and recertify D5 Backfit Navigation Subsystem during Engineering Refueling Overhauls, (4) Tactical Software SPALT, (5) Strategic Systems Programs Shipboard Integration Program (SSIP) Support, (6) Trainer Unique SSIP Support, (7) SSIP System Investigations, (8) Navigation Subsystem Migration to Future Platforms, (8) Sea Based Strategic Deterrent Support, and (9) Transition Planning and Execution. The contract will contain both United States and United Kingdom sponsored efforts for FY10 and options for FY11 efforts. As the design agent, LMMS2 is the only known source with the requisite design background, system knowledge and operational experience relative to the TRIDENT Navigation Subsystem capable of providing the required effort with the existing cost and schedule constraints. The contract will include an option provision to increase the level-of-effort items up to 30%. See Note 22!!
