THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. Reference #: N00259-16-N-0046. Naval Medical Center San Diego intends to award a firm fixed price sole source contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), only one responsible source, to: Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, Inc,; 125 May Street, Suite 300; Edison, NJ 008837. The objective of this sole source award is to acquire bone void filler for cervical and lumbar procedures. Sole source is based on MTF's ability to provide a product meeting the characteristics required by the medical center. In order to meet the required characteristics the product must be: an allograft from demineralized cortical bone in putty form that can be molded into implants, contain osteogenic mesenchymal stem cells, osteoprogenitor cells as well as be osteoconductive and osteoinductive. The product must also thaw within 25 minutes of the defrosting process and must not be allergenic. MTF is the manufacturer of Trinity Elite bone void filler and Orthofix is the distributer. The NAICS code for this requirement is 339112; the small business size standard is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement.
