NASA/NSSC has a requirement for a course entitled VxWorks 6.8 and WorkbenchFundamentals. The objective of the training is provide users with minimal experiencehands-on training in developing real-time applications with VxWorks and Wind RiverWorkbench. The course shall provide instruction in accordance with the requirements ofProject M. At a minimum, the course should cover the following topics: build andconfigure a VxWorks real-time system, real-time architecture and basic real-timeoperating system functionality, design real-time applications using the VxWorks API,develop synchronization solutions and protect shared resources, manage memory andinter-task communication, analyze and debug real-time, device driver and encapsulationtechniques, handle exceptions and interrupts, execute code periodically using timers,portioning software into tasks, VME bus addressing and good programming practices. Thevendor shall be responsible for providing all training materials. The vendor shallconduct one 4-day training session. Training shall be held at NASAs Johnson SpaceCenter August 3-6, 2010.NASA/NSSC intends to purchase the training course from Wind River Systems, Inc., 500 WindRiver Way, Alameda, CA 94501. Pursuant to FAR 13.106, the acquisition of these serviceshas been determined to be reasonably available from only one source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon July 23, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
