ADVERTISEMENT FOR INSPECTION CONSULTANT SERVICES UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) in selecting a consultant for the evaluation and assessment of Exterior Elevated Elements (E3s) and their associated waterproofing elements on campus-owned multi-family residential buildings for the proposed UCLA Housing Balcony Inspections (CP1481). Multi-family is defined as three or more dwelling units and may include dormitories, apartments, graduate student and staff housing, condominiums, and guest houses. The proposed project is to comply with the California Health and Safety Code Section (HSC) 17973, more commonly known as the Balcony Bill, all multi-family residential buildings with exterior elevated elements (E3s) are subject to conformance. UCLA Housing has 25 off-campus apartment complexes with 36 buildings that require inspection. The first inspection of the existing buildings shall occur before January 1, 2025. The project cost has not yet been determined and depends on inspection results. The consultant awarded the Balcony Bill inspection is precluded from contracting to perform any recommended repairs identified in this project report. Responses to the RFQ are due by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Each Request for Qualifications (RFQ) submittal is vital to UCLA. A screening committee will determine a shortlist of firms; further steps in the selection process will be at the selection committee¿s discretion.
