The contractor shall provide engineering services and conduct technical studies for the UK SSBN studies including attendance and participation at Focus Teams and Working Groups and UK team support at shipbuilder's facility. Conduct and participate in UK SWS FC Uniqueness and SWS build studies. Conduct an SWS equipment insertion and test philosophy trade study to determine the best approach to installation and test of the SWS equipment during the submarine build and test period. Investigate design concepts that would lead to reductions in life cycle costs.

  Negotiations will be conducted with General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS), Pittsfield, MA.  GDAIS is the sole manufacturer of the TRIDENT (II) D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Fire Control System and Attack Weapons Control System and the only source with the in-depth knowledge, expertise, and in-place capability to perform the required effort.  See Note 22.*****
