PACKING & CRATING SERVICES: This is a presolicitation notice for Packing & Crating at Laughlin Air Force Base, TX. Solicitation No. FA3099-06-R-0002 will be issued as an RFP, for commercial items under FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 15 Negotiated Procedures. The anticipated award(s) will be 100% set-aside for small business. The complete solicitation package will be available on or about 23 Jun 06. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 488991, and the size standard is $23.5 million. DESCRIPTION: The contractor shall furnish all (except that specifically indicated as Government-Furnished) personnel, equipment, facilities, supplies, services and materials for the preparation of packing, containerization, shipments of household goods and unaccompanied baggage including preparation for shipment, storage and drayage for Department of Defense personnel at Laughlin AFB, TX. Services include, but are not limited to: (1) Premove survey, weighing, time requirements, loss and damage reports, documentation, reports, storage, servicing/unservicing of appliances, disassembly of furniture (if required), packing, inventorying, tagging, wrapping, padding, packing and bracing of household good in shipping containers at ownerâs residence or contractorâs facility. (2) Drayage from storage warehouses, air and surface transportation terminals, military installation shipping offices and ocean or river terminals/piers to contractorâs facility, unloading from the delivering carrierâs vehicle, handling into contractorâs facility, drayage to ownerâs residence, decontainerization and unpacking of loaded containers of household goods and placing goods in appropriate rooms as directed by owner, unservicing appliances, assembly of any disassembled articles and removing shipping container, barrels, boxes/crates and debris from ownerâs residence and drayage of empty containers to contractorâs or Government facility.
