The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source firm fixed priced purchase order to Western Institute for Biomedical Research located at 500 Foothill Drive Salt Lae City, UT 84148. This is a special notice to determine the availability of potential vendors that can provide the necessary technical data for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Blood Disorders. The objective of this proposed study is to characterize the incidence of inpatient VTE and subsequent VTE-related readmissions in the VA. We will also examine the extent to which VTE prophylaxis is used within the VA and its relationship to the likelihood of VTE events and VTE-related readmissions. These analyses will be done within a cohort of patients undergoing surgery in the VA.

The proposed contract action is for services which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR PART 6.302-1; 4202 Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996.
